our Mission

AccessEd combats the achievement and opportunity gaps through equitable access to learning by providing comprehensive educational consulting and need-based scholarships for families of K-12 students in the East Bay.

about us

AccessEd is a local grassroots non-profit committed to supplementing the efforts of Bay Area K-12 schools. We are the bridge between high-quality service providers and low-resource families seeking out services such as:

HOW it works

Consult

We start with pro bono educational consulting to help families understand the complexities of their children’s academic pathway.

Referral

Next, we identify matching resources in our provider network for a referral.

Provider

Families then communicate directly with the provider and arrange the needed services.

Financial aid

We offer needs-based financial aid to subsidize the out-of-pocket cost to the family.

Long term support

Throughout a family’s enrollment, we provide check-ins, consultations, and school-based advocacy.

How CAN I AFFORD TUTORING FOR MY CHILD?

Tutoring is expensive, even when a provider offers a sliding scale. We determine a student's needs, and pay the difference between the provider's lowest sliding scale cost, and what the family can afford. For example, if your student needs two hours of math tutoring per week, this will cost you, depending on the provider, around $150 per week, or $600 per month. If you can afford a family contribution of $200 per month, AccessEd will supplement the $400 difference.

AccessEd Scholarship = Cost of Tutoring – Family Contribution

We will determine a family contribution that works for you during our intake meeting.

How do I apply for a scholarship?

We are not taking applications for the 23-24 school year, please check back after August 31.

EDUCATIONAL SUPPORT SERVICES

Additional services covered by AccessEd scholarships

We understand that students need more than tutoring to succeed academically. If a consultation reveals supplemental support is needed, AccessEd scholarships can be used toward the cost of services like:
